Gabe was chatting with Jason Lewis, Thomas' father. They had become more friendly over the years.

Chloe was happy to discuss her daughter's wedding with Jason's wife, Jean. They got on really well. Geoff was giving his daughter away.

They had originally thought of Gabe as best man, but Gabe had been a little nervous. His balance was sometimes not too reliable. Also he thought it may have been a little hard for Angel. He was aware that Angel had wanted to go out with him a few years ago. Gabe had discouraged her gently, feeling the age difference was a factor, also not sure how much the multiple sclerosis would affect him.

At present, he was very depressed and felt far away from God. He knew the old saying "If you feel far away from God, guess who moved?" but it was of little comfort. The depression had come and settled like mist on a mountain. No matter what he did or said, it seemed to be always there, darkening around him.
